Degree Information
The Exercise Science major provides several opportunities for intellectual growth and professional development in the field of health and physical education. 学生s who select this major will expand their knowledge of health and fitness so that they have the opportunity to discover and adopt healthy life styles throughout their lifetime. Prospective elementary and secondary teachers of health and physical education students must be accepted into the School of Education as a major and student teach at both levels (elementary and secondary) for state certification. Education courses offered through the School of Education for teacher certification are required.
The General 健康 Care specialization consists of courses from the Exercise Science and Athletic 健康 Care majors. Required courses provide a foundation of knowledge needed to prepare the student for a career in a wide variety of allied health areas. The life science, 心理学, and sociology electives will allow the student to choose courses tailored toward their career goals. An Exercise Science internship is also required as a culminating educational experience and allows the student to learn firsthand in an authentic setting.
Others may enjoy the opportunity to expand their understanding in the areas of 训练 or sport management. The former specialization includes techniques courses in a variety of sport activities while the latter enables students to delve into business management course topics frequently encountered by sports management professionals.

The mission of the Exercise Science program is to provide a quality education in a community of faith and scholarship. We are committed to the preparation and development of skills necessary to successfully engage in a career in exercise science or to pursue a post-graduate education.
Degree Objectives
- The professional preparation of skilled teachers of physical education and health, as well as qualified persons in the allied areas of strength and conditioning, 训练, athletic health care, general health care, and sport management.
- Preparation for the student to pursue graduate studies.
- The opportunity for the student to experience both the learning of theory and the discovery of application through practical extracurricular experiences.
- The opportunity for certification in first aid, CPR, and strength and conditioning.
- Wholesome health and fitness attitudes and knowledge for all students so that they may have the opportunity to discover and to choose healthy life styles.
